• Most of our custom tabulations run around $350. In contrast, the Census Bureau charges a minimum of $1,000, up to hundreds of thousands of dollars for custom tabulations.
• Most of our custom tabulations are delivered within hours. In contrast, the Census Bureau will take substantially longer.
• We understand that after reviewing a tabulation, customers generally realize that they wanted something a bit different than what they had originally asked for - e.g., a new dimension, new restriction, or perhaps a different way to define a dimension. Developing tabulations often requires multiple runs, and we will generally allow a second run (with minor changes) at no charge. After you've paid the Census Bureau $15,000 for a tabulation, and you've waited 2 months to receive it, how likely is it that they'll rerun your tabulation (with minor changes) at no additional charge?
• After you buy an expensive tabulation from the Census Bureau, they will give it to others for almost nothing. In contrast, if someone wants the same information from us that you already paid for, they must also pay for it.
• If you are making a large investment of time and money in purchasing tabulations from the Census Bureau, you might want to consider the following:
  • We can provide a quick and inexpensive 'preview' of the tabulation that you are going to get from the Census Bureau
  • We can do it faster and cheaper, but we cannot give the "Census Bureau Stamp Of Approval", because we are not the Census Bureau
  • We can do it faster and cheaper, but we cannot provide the finely divided geographies (below PUMAs and MSA, such as block group level) because that data is not released to the public in an unsummarized form, for privacy protection
  • The bottom line is that if you must purchase tabulations from the Census Bureau because you require the "Census Bureau Stamp Of Approval", or you must have the finely divided geographies, our services will provide a quick and inexpensive prototyping tool to fine-tune and preview your tabulation before getting in line and opening your checkbook at the Census Bureau.
