Simulations In MAST

MAST does much of it's work through multi-dimensional analysis, and simulations are no exception. A simulation allows the creation of a new piece of virtual data by giving MAST a data file which contains potentially many dimensions (like a hypercube), and factors associated with each of the unique combinations of dimensions. The dimensions are used to match each transaction to a cell in the cube, and multiply the appropriate factor from the cube by a factor on the transaction, thus creating a new virtual data item. The dimensions may be customer or transaction level. The dimensions or factors are often virtual data items, which allows the user to create intermediate "stepping stones" to get to their desired destination.
