PUMS (Long Form) Census Data Fields
There are approximately 250 explicit fields available for analysis at two levels: the household level, and the person level. Each household has potentially many persons associated with it. In order to organize the fields in a comprehensible manner, we have categorized them as household or person, then further subcategorized them as seemed appropriate.
For example, under the "Person" category are 12 subcategorizations, one of which is called "Ancestry". Under Ancestry are found 4 explicit data fields: Race, Primary Ancestry, Secondary Ancestry, and Hispanic. Clicking on any of these fields will show the values which each field may have, along with an in-depth description of the field.
There are an unlimited number of implicit data fields, which are explained in the subcategorization "Derived Fields".
